My Top 5 Spring Weekend Getaway Travel Essentials 2016

11:43 AM

Hey guys, so Spring is right around the corner! Actually, I think it has already begun here in Myrtle Beach, SC. It was 70° yesterday! I don't know about you guys, but the Winter can kinda make me a little depressed every now and then, so Homeaway and I thought it would be a great idea to put together a "Weekend Getaway List" for those of you who are ready to escape the Winter blues. It includes my top 5 favorite things to bring to the beach. I know that some of you might not be able to carry a kayak or corn hole boards on a plane, but hopefully this list will give you guys a little bit of inspo for your next vaca.

My number one essential, for pretty much everywhere I go, is a TON of water. If you're on vacation, that means you're probably going to be drinking a lot of tropical Caribbean-esk cocktails. At least, if you're anything like me, that's probably what you'll be doing, and water is the best way to keep yourself hydrated while you're drinking all that liquor. Personally, I like to alternate back and forth with one bottle of water in between each cocktail! It's my fool proof way of preventing a hangover, that way I can do it all over again the next day. Hey, it is a vacation, right?

Number two on my list is a cute sea shell shaped bikini. I saw this one on Pinterest a few months ago, and I fell in love! I just feel like it's a must for Spring/Summer 2016. It's made by a company called Klams, and you can find them at

My boyfriend and I live near this place called Murrells Inlet in South Carolina, which is the most beautiful place that I've seen in my life by the way. If you ever get the chance, you should definitely come down and check it out sometime. There's this gorgeous secluded beach across the water, and it's my favorite place to go in the Summer. Unfortunately, the only fast way to get there is by boat though, and we don't have one right now. So, last year, we decided to buy these kayaks, and I absolutely love them.

Another thing that I can't live without at the beach is a humongous towel! Granted ours isn't this big, but I found this pic on Pinterest, and I thought it was hilarious. This is definitely something that we would do.

Alright so, my last, but definitely not least favorite thing to bring to the beach, are corn hole boards. I just get really bored while I'm laying out sometimes, and it's great to be able to get up every now and then. Plus, I feel like games like this are a must whenever you go to the beach with your friends, and it's a good way to meet new people, too. I found these on Pinterest, and I couldn't believe it. I've never seen glow in the dark ones before! This is definitely something that we might have to try to make ourselves this year.

Personally, I would love to go to the Dominican Republic right now. I found this unbelievable villa on Homeaway for only $300 per night, and I've been wanting to stay here since last Summer. It's actually more like a mansion, in my opinion. It has 6 bedrooms and 6.5 baths with your own private pool, and it's also all inclusive, too. Which means you don't have to spend a ton on booze and food. I don't know about you guys, but I can rack up a $2,000 bill on a 5 night cruise real quick. So, I really feel like this place would save us a lot of money overall. Plus, look at it! This is one of the most beautiful houses that I ever seen in my life, and it's close to 3 gorgeous beaches that you can drive to on your personal golf cart that comes with the villa! The all inclusive package includes breakfast prepared in your kitchen and served on your veranda each morning, complimentary liquor for the house, and of course, and all you can eat and drink at 12 different restaurants and 30 different bars! It's unbelievable, and it actually gives me chills just thinking about it.This place, seriously, looks like heaven to me! In my opinion, it's got everything you could ever want in a vacation, plus more. Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention the cabanas!

I don't know about you guys, but laying in a cabana like this while getting a massage and sipping on a Carribean cocktail sounds like one of the most relaxing things in the world to me right now. You can visit Homeaway for all the details at

I've also heard that St. George Island is really nice this time of year. Dr. Beach named it as one of his top 10 favorite beaches in the US. I feel like the state park, which is located on the eastern side of the island, would be a great place to explore. I found this pic of the St. George Lighthouse on Pinterest, and I would love to go check it out. I have this weird obsession with lighthouses, but I've never actually been to one. If you are interested in visiting the Florida Panhandle, Homeaway has a lot of great options here, or if you are specifically interested in St. George Island. You can check out some of their available vacation rentals here.

I hope you guys enjoyed this list, and let me know if you wanna see more stuff like this. I know I normally stick to fashion, but I've been thinking about doing some posts about food, fitness, and travel lately. Have a great weekend! xx, Amie
